What Florida rules actually cover

Look at the person, the pharmacy and the product separately. A state record answers only the question it was made to answer.

Florida permission for an online visit

For ordinary online care in Florida, the person treating you needs a Florida licence or Florida registration for online care from another state.

Telehealth means getting care at a distance, such as through a video visit.

Florida requires that this care meet the same professional standard as a visit in a room.

A Florida pharmacy must still follow federal rules

Florida requires medicine made to order for people to meet federal compounding rules too.

For a pharmacy or doctor, federal section 503A covers making medicine on prescription for a named patient. A facility making batches of germ-free medicine follows section 503B instead.

FDA, the US medicine review agency, has a different role.

A state permit does not give FDA approval to a compounded medicine.

Compounding is making a medicine to order. Federal law limits regular copying of medicines already sold ready-made.

Ask the pharmacy which federal rule allows it to make this medicine. Ask how the ingredients and any change for your health need meet that rule.

A clinic record has limits

Florida requires a health care clinic licence for clinics covered by its clinic law.

Some practices have an exemption: the licence rule does not apply to them. This includes certain practices wholly owned by licensed health professionals.

A missing clinic licence alone does not prove that an office is breaking the law.

Ask the office which licence or exemption applies. Keep the answer with the licence details of the person treating you.
